Stop Looking Around and Start Looking Up.

Have you ever been in a situation where it was completely awkward because the subject that was being discussed was a touchy one for you? And you pretend like it isn’t, so you just sit there awkwardly and hope it ends soon?

I was having one of those moments, except I wasn’t around anyone. It was meagainst me.THOSE are the WORST!

There is no enemy like the one we create against ourselves.

We come up with expectations that are impossible to reach. We let others come up with expectations for us that are impossible to reach. These expectations have brought me to thinking about the same thing over and over the past couple of weeks.

This question has been on my heart a lot lately;

“What does a person who loves Jesus look like?”

I kept asking myself that question and I couldn’t answer it, so I went to the one that could, in prayer.Lots. Of. Prayer.

Here’s what I got- (1 Samuel 16:7) “But the LORD said to Samuel, ‘Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the LORD sees not as man sees: man looks on outward appearance; but the LORD looks on the heart.’”

What He’s telling us, is that He looks past our clothes, past the color of our nails, past our hair, past our dress shoes, past our name brands outfits, and straight to our HEARTS.

He cares about us loving Him above all else, and loving our neighbor! (Mark 12:30-31) He cares about us serving others. (1 Peter 4:10) He cares about how we care about the lost and the broken. (Psalm 34:18-19)

The idols were chasing in our lives that don’t include glorifying Him are distractions.

Those distractions bring us, anxiety, fear, worry, depression, and comparison. Those distractions cause us to create those expectations that lead to disappointments. Those distractions cause us to live for ourselves and not for the the Lord, the one who saved us so wecould live everyday for Him.

So the answer to my question is this; a person who loves Jesus is someone who lives for Him. Someone who desires to be His hands and feet. Someone who wakes up everyday and chooses to live for Him. Someone who walks through the storms and the blessings knowing God is right there with them, guiding them. Someone who knows and truly believes that His light can never be extinguished. Someone who loves Jesus looks like someone who loves Jesus above EVERY thing else. Someone who has a heart that is aligned with His and desires to follow His will.

God handpicked me and He handpicked you! Lets be who He calls us to be. Lets not only look like people who love Jesus, lets BE those people. Lets be those people you can look at and see Jesus flowing through them. Lets be those people that are overflowing with His joy and peace. Lets stop trying to please ourselves and others.

Rejection happens. Lets stop mistaking peoples rejection, for Gods rejection.God created us, He redirects us and He protects us.

God doesn’t reject us. People reject us.

Rejection leads to 3 things: being hurt, being lonely and expectations that you can’t reach.

What people reject, God accepts.  When you’re hurt, go to His word and let HIM comfort you. When you’re lonely, go to His word and let HIM be your friend. When you find yourself trying to live up to expectations you can’t reach, go to His word and let HIM guide your way.

I’ve been creating expectations of who I should be because I consider myself someone who loves Him. I’ve been creating expectations that I can’t live up to because I’m not Him. When we focus on what we think of ourselves and what other people think of us, we lose focus on the only One that matters. We lose focus on what God thinks of us.

When we lose focus on what God thinks of us, the enemy comes in and starts telling us what he thinks of us and to be honest, I have no interest in what the enemy thinks of me. #sorrynotsorry.

We are children of God, and we are who He says we are. God created us in His image. HE did, not your friend. HE did, not your co worker. HE did, not the person on social media. HE did, not you.

Next time someone tells you who you are, remind them that God says you are His child. Remind them that God calls you by name. Remind them that God created you in His image. Remind them that God says you are loved, forgiven, redeemed, and restored!

May the Lord go with you and keep you safe.

Hey there! I know this is kind of off topic but I was wondering which blog platform are you using
for this website? I’m getting fed up of WordPress because I’ve had issues with hackers and I’m looking at alternatives for another platform.

I would be awesome if you could point me in the direction of a good platform.
